A Dorian Mode concert is a unique event. Not only is it musically
satisfying but Dorian’s gigs are great fun as he peppers his concerts
with hysterical, surreal yarns about people in caravan parks and chums
who work in bait shops, along with his beatnik readings from his
bestselling laugh-out-loud novels and short stories.
Here is a snapshot of his trio in an intimate performance at Sydney's underground jazz venue, Cafe Church in Glebe, Sydney.
Here is a snapshot of a bigger concert with his quartet at the Laycock Theatre on the NSW Central .
Dorian is both a jazz musician and a writer. He often writes and performs funny beat poems about people around his neck of the woods. Here he is in a recent concert.

Dorian is so busy writing books these days he seldom plays live. So his gigs are often booked months in advance. But playing
live jazz is a still big part of Dorian's life.
He
first stared playing live gigs after leaving the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in his early twenties. Since
then, he's performed at jazz clubs and jazz festivals and various venues across
the country (including the Sydney Opera House) and on numerous
TV shows.
